Goals and Outcomes
My immediate goals involve graduating in May 2027 with my Master of Public Health in Epidemiology. Prior to this, I will be finishing my Capstone research and submitting for publication. Additionally, I will be presenting my research at UF PHHP Research Days.
Further goals include expanding upon my current research. I currently conduct research as a member of the Maurelli Lab at the UF Emerging Pathogens Institute. I am excited to work with this lab group to research bacterial pathogens and hone my wet lab research skills.
Additionally, I have preliminary experience in coding languages like R and SAS. However, my goals include learning more about each of these programs to use during my research. Bioinformatics is an extremely important aspect of medical research which I aim to understand and conduct myself.
Goals
Short-Term:
- Graduate with my MPH in May 2027
- Publish my MPH Capstone
- Attend more conferences/symposiums related to my research
- Continue to work with my company as an Data Intern
Long- Term:
- Pursue a PhD in Immunology or Infectious Disease Research
- Publish a research paper in which I am the lead author
- Travel to areas with high rates of infectious disease to implement preventive healthcare strategies
- Promote vaccine development and immunization among marginalized communities
- Work for a federal/international public health agency such as the CDC, NIH, WHO, or USAMRIID
